Tseng takes flight in Thailand as Wie seeks third title

(CNN) -- World No. 1 Yani Tseng eagled the last hole to take a one-shot lead into Sunday's final round of the season-opening LPGA Thailand tournament in Chonburi.

The Taiwanese golfer, seeking her third successive victory after two wins in Australia earlier this month, carded two-under-par 70 in her third round on Saturday in hot conditions at the Siam Country Club.

She ended the day ahead of American Michelle Wie and South Korea's In-Kyung Kim, who led for the first two rounds.

The 22-year-old had an erratic round featuring five birdies, three bogeys and one double before moving onto nine-under 207 with her four-foot eagle putt in the $1.45 million tournament.

"Right now, I'm prepared and not afraid when I'm on top. I know how to win a tournament," Tseng told reporters.

"I'm going to go enjoy the tournament like today. I might play with Michelle Wie tomorrow so I'll enjoy the big crowd."

Wie, seeking to join Kim with three LPGA Tour titles, shot 71 to stay in contention.

"On the front nine, I putted horribly, couldn't make a single thing, but on the back nine I put myself together," she said.

"It was hot out there and you have to focus because you find yourself getting tired. Tomorrow, hopefully I'll get started off good, make birdies and learn from my mistakes."

Kim carded a 72 to stay one shot ahead of U.S. Open champion Paula Creamer, who withdrew from last year's event in Thailand due to her thumb problems.

"The golf course is playing awesome. It's playing hard and in certain spots you can't get up and down," the fourth-placed American said after her 70.

"Tomorrow the pin placements will be just as tough as today, so you'll have to be consistent."

Also in contention is veteran former world No. 1 Karrie Webb, a 36-time tour winner who is fifth on 210 after a 68.

Meanwhile, Spain's Pablo Larrazabal set the third-round clubhouse lead at the men's European Tour event in India, which was hit by more fog delays on Saturday.

The 2008 rookie of the year shot six-under 66 to be on 11-under 205 after 72 holes at the Avantha Masters in New Delhi.

England's Robert Coles was level with him, but will have to complete the final two holes of his round on Sunday.

They were one shot ahead of India's S.S.P. Chowrasia and Sujjan Singh, plus Argentina's Rafa Echenique.

The second round of the PGA Tour's Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles was not completed on Friday due to bad light, with American veteran Fred Couples leading by two shots after a 66.

J.B. Holmes and Australia's John Senden were his closest challengers on 136, while Spencer Levin and Aaron Baddeley joined them after competing their rounds on Saturday.
